Our Charity of the Year: Sebby’s Corner

sebbys corner blue
We are proud that our Charity of the Year, as voted for by our people, is Sebby’s Corner. Sebby’s Corner believes no child should go without the essentials, with the charity providing anything from nappies and formula to period products and school uniform to teenagers.

Through fundraisers, sponsored challenge events, collections in the office, and volunteering, we aim to contribute to their mission and help make a difference in the lives of families living in poverty, families escaping domestic abuse, refugees, asylum seekers and victims of modern slavery and human trafficking.

HigHer: elevating women in the workplace

elevating women in the workplace
We have established a professional network called HigHer which elevates women and champions equality in the workplace. Driven by a diverse internal committee, HigHer supports women (both inside the firm and within our network of clients and contacts) in excelling in their careers through an annual programme of training and network events.

Find out more:

“I think sometimes women feel more constrained about promoting themselves and putting themselves forward than some of our male counterparts. And it’s nothing to do with ability, it’s just to do with having the confidence. And sometimes you need a bit of a nudge or push in the right direction to make your voice heard. And really, that’s what HigHer is about.”Tania Goodman, Partner and Head of Employment.

Other activities

Many of our lawyers  and other non-legal professionals serve as trustees or directors for charities and institutions, including many in the field of performing arts.

A number of our lawyers provide free legal advice to members of the community who would otherwise be without legal assistance. At local law centres, evening clinics and the Citizens Advice Bureau, advice is given on housing, employment and family law problems.

Several lawyers also supervise BPP Law School students in their community legal advice clinics.
