Charles’ immigration work spans private client and corporate immigration, providing support to high-net-worth individuals and their families (and family offices) wishing to relocate; to international entrepreneurs and investors; and to both UK companies wishing to employ foreign nationals (recruiting from abroad or transferring employees to the UK from an overseas office) and to foreign businesses wishing to start a business in the UK.

Collyer Bristow’s enhanced Immigration offering supports the firm’s highly international client base and is complementary to the firm’s key practice areas, notably the Private Wealth and Commercial services departments. Charles will work particularly closely with the Tax & estate planning, Employment and Corporate teams.

Charles graduated with a BA (Hons) in Modern History at Exeter University in 2001, before reading law at BPP Law School in London. He was Called to the Bar at Lincoln’s Inn in October 2004 as a (non-practising) barrister and cross-qualified as a solicitor in August 2009. He is a member of the Immigration Law Practitioners’ Association.

Charles Avens, Head of Immigration at Collyer Bristow, said:
“Collyer Bristow has a well-earned reputation for working with high and ultra-high-net worth individuals, as well as a particularly strong Commercial services department. I look forward to working with both to develop the firm’s private client and corporate immigration offering”.

Peter Daniel, Partner and Head of Collyer Bristow’s Private Wealth Department, commented:
“It is a pleasure to welcome Charles to Collyer Bristow. He brings a huge amount of immigration experience and expertise and will be a valuable addition to the firm, further strengthening our international service offering”.
