Tax and estate planning: The Private client services department includes a strong Tax and estate planning team which advises on wills, inheritance, tax planning and structuring, trusts and charities. It has particular strength in residence, non-domicile and offshore matters, powers of attorney and Court of Protection work, as well as trust and probate litigation.
Family: The firm’s leading Family team handles the full range of family issues including divorce, separation, civil partnership and cohabitation, the preparation of pre and post nuptial agreements and complex disputes involving financial issues or those concerning children.
Commercial litigation: The innovative Commercial litigation team has substantial experience advising organisations on issues regarding breach of contract, partnership and shareholder disputes, professional negligence claims, civil fraud, trade disputes and product liability disputes. It is known for its strategic and tactical excellence and aims to resolve disputes as quickly and cost effectively as possible. The team’s clients include Manolete Partners plc and Greensphere Capital LLP.
Intellectual property and data protection: The firm has a strong reputation for IP and brand management work and has acted in high profile cases which have gone to trial or interlocutory hearings. Its work covers protection and exploitation of brands, negotiating IP commercial agreements, resolving disputes concerning patent, design rights, trade mark and copyright infringement. The team is also experienced in advising businesses on data protection and privacy and can carry out audits in preparation for the incoming GDPR. Clients include Sanrio UK Ltd and Wirth Research Ltd.
Employment: The Employment team provides commercial and practical advice to companies in managing their everyday HR issues and dealing with disputes, which can involve Employment Tribunal and High court litigation. The team regularly deals with matters involving unfair dismissal, redundancy, discrimination, restraint of trade, TUPE, breach of contract, whistleblowing, flexible working, equal pay and business immigration.
Corporate and Commercial: The Corporate and Commercial team provides advice to national and international organisations across a wide range of industry sectors. It has expertise in mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and shareholder agreements, company reconstructions, general company law, insolvency and corporate recovery.
Real estate: The experienced Real estate team acts for property owners, investors, developers, funders, sovereign wealth funds, landlords, and tenants dealing with all real estate transactions, from multi-million pound portfolio acquisitions to individual sales, commercial lettings, property management and real estate disputes. The team covers the full range of real estate services including construction, development and real estate finance.
We look for individuals who demonstrate a strong academic performance, having gained a 2:1 or on track to achieve this.
We are also interested in your A levels, the subjects you studied and how that has led you to consider a career in Law.

We encourage our trainees to get exposure to both contentious and non-contentious work throughout their training contract, but we do not have any mandatory seat requirements. You will spend six months in four practice areas, working with a range of people from senior partners to more recently qualified solicitors. We have a mentoring and performance coaching programme, training and regular feedback conversations which nurture the development of your technical capability and client advisory skills.
You will be encouraged from an early stage to take responsibility for your own files and participate in managing the client’s work. You will also be given opportunities to start developing your BD and networking skills.

For both intakes we will be accepting candidates who will be qualifying under the SQE route.
Assessment days will take place at the end of July/beginning of August 2025.
Our 2026 traineeships will be confirmed one year in advance of their start date and our 2027 traineeships will be confirmed two years in advance of their start date.
