Mette Marie is a Senior Associate specialising in Intellectual property and Data protection, with her practice encompassing both contentious and commercial matters.
Mette Marie’s work on Intellectual property includes advising on all aspects of IP protection, exploitation and enforcement in relation to the full range of copyright, trade mark, passing off, design and patent infringement cases, often with international aspects.
As part of the Data privacy team, Mette Marie advises clients on compliance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and other data protection legislation. Her work includes drafting compliant privacy policies and data processing agreements, conducting audits of clients’ data protection and data security practices and procedures, advising on responding to Subject Access Requests, and data breaches and enforcement by the ICO or individual data subjects. Mette was awarded the Practitioner Certificate in Data Protection (PC.dp) in April 2021.
Mette Marie also does general commercial work, drafting, negotiating, and advising on a wide range of commercial contracts including goods and services agreements, collaboration agreements, IT contracts, and e-commerce and website terms.
She has a particular interest in the field of art law, and has acted for artists, galleries, museums, and public and private collections in relation to issues such as copyright infringement, authenticity and ownership disputes, and the loan, sale and consignment of artworks.
Mette Marie is a member of the Danish-UK Association.
