Please join Collyer Bristow’s Financial Services group for an in-person seminar and networking event to discuss the latest in the sector, chaired by Nigel Brahams, Head of Financial Services.

Abbie Coleman will be addressing the FCA’s latest anti-greenwashing and sustainability rules, as well as how the world of ESG litigation is developing.

Robin Henry, Head of Dispute Resolution, will be speaking on the latest trends in crypto disputes and insolvencies and explaining how they will be affected by greater international regulation of crypto.

Guest speakers, Richard Barnwell and Alison Barker from BDO will be speaking on the hot topic of the day, AI and its increasing use by financial services firms. They will consider the current regulatory view about the risks and regulatory expectations about use of AI, including risks around model development, model deployment, data use, governance and oversight. They will explore the current position of regulators and potential future regulatory developments and the paths policy could take.

Our guest speakers:

Richard Barnwell is a partner within BDO’s FS Advisory practice. He has been a partner at BDO for seven years and leads the Governance, Risk and Conduct disciplines. As a Skilled Person with both the PRA and FCA, Richard works with firm’s across the FS sector on a range of regulatory driven matters. Richard is also heavily involved in BDO’s work to use AI internally and linked to this, is developing propositions to enable BDO to support clients in leveraging AI in a way which meets the evolving expectations of the regulators.

Alison Barker is a Special Advisor on regulation in the Financial Services Advisory Practice. Alison joined BDO two years ago from the FCA where she was a Director in Supervision. As an experienced previous supervisor, Alison has a deep understanding of regulatory expectations. Alison is also an Independent Non-executive Director for the Consumer Codes Approvals Board. Prior to joining the FCA/FSA in 2009, Alison was a Director a big 4 Regulatory practice and Head of Compliance for TSB Life and Pensions, part of TSB Bank plc.
